Ebook Piracy Protection Services

A pirated ebook is one file away from every reader who would have bought it. We find unauthorized copies of your books across the web, take them down, and keep watching your catalogue.

One file, every reader

A printed book has to be copied page by page. An ebook is a single file, and once it is out it can be converted into every format, uploaded to dozens of sites and shared in channels with thousands of readers within days of publication. Each of those readers is a sale that does not happen, for the publisher and for the author.

Ebook piracy protection finds those copies and removes them. We have been finding and removing unauthorized copies for rights owners since 2013, and publishing is part of what we protect.

Where pirated books spread

  • Ebook download sites, which list new releases and bestsellers as free downloads in every format.
  • Shadow libraries, which host very large collections of books and are mirrored across many domains.
  • Cyberlockers and file hosts, which store the files those sites link to.
  • Telegram channels, which share new releases and whole series with large groups.
  • Social platforms, where download links are posted in groups, comments and profiles.
  • Search results, which send readers searching for a "free PDF" or "free EPUB" to all of the above.

Audiobooks travel the same routes, as file downloads and as uploads to video platforms.

How we protect your books

We monitor everywhere. Coverage runs across all of these surfaces, in every language and territory your books are sold. Titles are searched the way pirates share them: by title, author, series, ISBN and file format.

We detect with precision. Every match is verified by our own technology and analysts before anything moves. Your official retailers, library lending services and promotional extracts sit on a whitelist that we set with you before enforcement begins.

We take it down. Confirmed copies go into takedown notices, delisting requests and platform escalation, carried through until the copy is gone. We act on the source as well as the link, so the file is removed at its origin and not just hidden from one search result.

We keep it down. Removed files reappear on mirror domains and in new uploads. Re-uploads are tracked and each new copy is handled as it appears, for as long as your books are under protection.

New releases and the backlist

A new release draws the most piracy in its first weeks, so launches get heightened monitoring. But the backlist never stops being shared, especially when a new book in a series or an adaptation sends readers back to earlier titles. The backlist stays under protection alongside new releases.

What you see

Every copy found and every removal confirmed, title by title, through a live dashboard and periodic reports your team can act on. Publishers can see piracy across the whole list; authors and agents can see it for their own titles. Our customer success team stays reachable throughout.
